Tampa Bay Buccaneers 50th Season Posters by Illustrator Conrad Garner
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 50th season marks five decades of grit, reinvention, and unforgettable moments. When I was invited to create two official posters for the Buccaneers’ 50th anniversary season, the goal was to design artwork that honored the team’s history while still feeling bold, modern, and relevant.
These posters were conceived as visual time capsules. Each piece reflects a different side of the franchise. One poster focuses on legacy, the weight of fifty years, the perseverance of the team, and the loyalty of the fans who have been there through every era. The second poster leans into momentum, capturing the energy of the present and the confidence of a team building on everything that came before it.
From a design and illustration standpoint, balance was critical. Sports poster design can easily become overwhelming, so I focused on strong composition, intentional typography, and illustration-led storytelling. Every line, texture, and color choice was made to feel timeless rather than trendy, allowing the posters to live beyond a single game day or season.
Tampa itself played an important role in the visual language. The city’s heat, grit, and swagger subtly inform the artwork without overpowering the subject. These posters were designed not just as promotional pieces, but as collectible art that reflects both the Buccaneers franchise and the culture of Tampa Bay.
As a Tampa-based illustrator and designer, contributing to the Buccaneers’ 50th season was deeply meaningful. The team is woven into the city’s identity, and being trusted to help visually mark this milestone was an honor. These posters celebrate where the Buccaneers have been, where they are now, and the foundation they continue to build for the future.
